I’ve spent my life exploring different methods & practices for easing muscular tension, decreasing pain, mobilizing joints, calming the nervous system, increasing somatic awareness, quieting the mind and cultivating inner listening. These things have always seemed essential to me for inner freedom, focus, clarity, direction, peace & wholeness – in order to be a more effective contributor in the world & to be of use. This will continue to be an ongoing journey of discovery! I enjoy sharing my learning with others, and learning from the experiences of others.
To this end, I’ve been regularly/daily practicing yoga since 2004 & teaching yoga since 2007. My original certification was with the International Sports Medicine Association (ISMA) in 2009. I did further study with Jeff Tiebot at the Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga, & completed a 220 hour certification in Ashtanga Vinyasa Krama Yoga in 2012. Since then, I’ve studied and learned from a host of teachers & disciplines and enjoy exploring those that make home/self practice most accessible to people.
I’m also a Licensed Massage Therapist in the state of Indiana and nationally Board Certified in Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (by NCBTMB). I graduated from the Blue Ridge School of Massage and Yoga's Medical Massage program in 2011. I completed Yomassage® Therapist certification in Indianapolis, IN in 2019, & maintain ongoing continuing education on a variety of topics.
Prior to my explorations of massage and yoga, I obtained a B.A. from Eastern Mennonite University (2003) in Harrisonburg, VA -- with majors in Journalism and in Justice, Peace & Conflict Studies, as well as a minor in Bible & Religion.
